LOS ANGELES : Sheriff’s Deputy Indicted on Ongoing U.S. Probe

A federal grand jury has indicted another Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy in connection with an ongoing investigation into corruption in the narcotics division of the Sheriff’s Department. Eleven deputies already have been convicted of skimming or laundering funds.
The new five-count indictment charged Deputy Narcizo Ernest Reaza, 39, of El Monte with conducting a series of financial transactions with the aim of deceiving banks and the Internal Revenue Service. If convicted, Reaza could be sentenced to as much as 34 years in jail and be fined as much as $1 million.
