Northwest Joins Continental Suit: Northwest Airlines joined Continental Airlines in filing an antitrust suit against American Airlines. In the federal court suit, Northwest charged American with “illegal, anti-competitive and monopolistic activities” through its pricing policies. American officials could not be reached for comment. In a separate development, United Airlines offered Trans World Airlines $259 million for 40 takeoff and landing slots at Chicago O’Hare Airport and a maintenance hanger at Los Angeles International Airport.
