SAN DIEGO : Not-Guilty Plea in Park Rape

Share

A documented gang member pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges that he participated in the rape of three teen-age girls in Southcrest Park late Friday night.

Kevin Ray McGee, 19, is being held on $200,000 bail after being charged with three counts of rape in concert and one count of attempted rape in concert.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Gloria Michaels said another man arrested in the case, 20-year-old Allah McGowan, was released Monday after investigators determined that he was actually the man who saved three teen-age girls who were being sexually assaulted by at least five males at the Southeast San Diego park.

Two other defendants in the case are juveniles, and more arrests are expected, Michaels said.

Investigators said the three victims--ages 13, 14 and 15--had been socializing in the park with the males before being chased and attacked. McGee is accused of holding back the friends of the girl being attacked at the time. He is also charged with trying to rape the 14-year-old.

Municipal Judge Nicholas Kasimatis scheduled a preliminary hearing for June 29.
