Now that every organization on earth has realized how much money there is in recipes, charity cookbooks are flooding into our office. The most notable thing about them is usually the cause they benefit, but that’s not what stands out about “Five Star Sensations” (though all the proceeds go to the University Ireland Cancer Center in Cleveland). Nor is it the introduction by Wolfgang Puck or the recipes from some of America’s best chefs (Michel Richard, Dean Fearing, Thomas Keller, Jim Dodge and Debra Ponzek, to name just a few). What makes this book different is simply that it is one of the best-designed cookbooks to come along in a while: cleverly organized, nicely photographed and spiral-bound with a heavy plexiglass cover that can be wiped right off. It even has a pocket in the back where you can file your own stray recipes. At $21.95, it’s available almost everywhere, from Bristol Farms to Book Soup.
