Happiness Is Just a Thing Called Bruce

I don’t write to you every time my favorite artist releases new material. I just buy the records and attend the concerts like millions of other fans. And I enjoy reading about these artists in Calendar, along with assessments of their works.
What I don’t enjoy, or even understand, is the ongoing letter-writing campaign crucifying Hilburn whenever his subject matter is Springsteen.
After all, it is his job to update the public on the music scene, and he would be most remiss in that position if he overlooked an artist of Springsteen’s stature.
Nevertheless, these self-appointed critics never miss an opportunity to point out the error of Hilburn’s ways, with almost missionary zeal.
Their crusade has now lasted decades. Talk about needing to get a life!
