Roberts Returns: Superstar Julia Roberts, concluding her self-imposed one-year retreat from the film business, has signed a deal with Warner Bros. to star in “The Pelican Brief,” director Alan Pakula’s (“Sophie’s Choice”) adaptation of John Grisham’s (“The Firm”) best-selling novel, which will go before the cameras next year. Roberts will play a law student who stumbles onto the identity of the man who orchestrated the assassination of two Supreme Court justices. Her co-stars have yet to be selected.
