Gates in Film: Police Chief Daryl Gates will have an on-screen role as a commentator in an upcoming feature-length documentary called “Under Siege: The Face of Crime in America Today.” In the film, Gates will comment on footage of real crimes and explain how he would respond to them. He’ll serve as counterpoint to another commentator, Anthony V. Bouza, a veteran police officer who calls himself a “liberal cop.” The documentary is from producer Max J. Rosenberg and filmmaker Joseph Strick, who has spent the last four years filming crimes. Strick won an Academy Award for his documentary “Interviews With My Lai Veterans.”
