ANAHEIM : City Raises Fees at 2 Golf Courses

It is about to cost more to tee off on the city’s two municipal golf courses.

Beginning July 1, weekday greens fees at Anaheim Hills and Dad Miller golf courses will be $16, up from the current $15, officials have announced. Daily cart rental will increase to $20 from $18, while a new $10 annual fee will be charged for use of the city’s computerized tee time reservation system. Weekend green fees will remain $20.

Greg Smith, the system’s general manager, said that the increased fees will result in an additional $237,000 over the next year for the city, which expects to receive about $4.1 million from the courses during that time. Eighty percent of the revenue is used to operate the courses, Smith said, while the rest goes to the city’s general fund.

“We are trying to keep our fees competitive with the other comparable municipal golf courses in the area,” while continuing to improve the facilities, Smith said. The city plans to spend $400,000 on course improvements in the next year.

The automated tee time reservation system allows golfers to make reservations one week in advance using the push buttons on their telephones.

Golfers who do not pay the fee will be allowed to make reservations one day in advance by calling the individual courses.
