The Orange County Harbors, Beaches and Parks division has stocked the county’s regional parks with catfish in one phase of a tri-annual stocking program at the parks.
With about $2,000 from the Orange County Fish and Game Commission, lakes at the Yorba, Carbon Canyon, Laguna Niguel, Mile Square, Irvine and Clark regional parks were stocked with a total of 1,200 to 2,400 pounds of catfish over the past week.
“Most of them will be stocked with channel catfish, the local favorite of our fishermen,” said park Ranger Ed Harrison.
Parks are open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. state law requires people over 16 years old to obtain a fishing license, which are sold on an annual basis at sporting goods stores for $22.50. Daily and seasonal licenses are available as well.
