THOUSAND OAKS : Driver Killed When Car Misses Curve
A stable manager was killed after he failed to negotiate a curve on a road south of Thousand Oaks and was partially ejected when his car rolled over into a field, authorities said Tuesday.
The victim was identified by the Ventura County coroner as Jesus Torres, 30, who worked at West View Farms, a horse training ranch in Moorpark.
“He was quite well-known in the Conejo Valley,” ranch spokeswoman Sharon Rose said. “He will be sorely missed.”
According to the California Highway Patrol, Torres was driving alone north on Hidden Valley Road near Potrero Road about 5:20 p.m. Monday when he lost control of his car on a curve. Torres’ car crossed a double yellow line, over-corrected in attempting to steer back to the right side of the road and rolled into a field, law enforcement officials said.
A coroner’s spokesman said the victim was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected from the vehicle.
