IRVINE : Deans to Attend Training Programs

Two Irvine Valley College deans were recently selected to serve in two separate leadership programs this summer.

Serafin Albert Zasueta, dean of instructional programs, was one of 35 state community college leaders selected to attend the Executive Leadership Institute, sponsored by the League for Innovation in the Community College, in cooperation with the University of Texas and UC Berkeley.

Zasueta, who came to Irvine Valley College in 1991 after being provost, dean and director of Southwestern College’s San Ysidro campus, will travel to Toronto in August to attend the institute.

Dean of Economic Development Nick Kremer was one of 36 vocational educators in the state chosen to participate in the Carl Perkins leadership development program of the state Vocational Leadership Academy.

The program includes intensive training by experts in the fields of economic development and vocational education.

Kremer, who came to Irvine Valley College in 1991 from El Camino College, was also recently selected to serve on the advisory committee for a national project studying how community college students with limited English skills are served by vocational educational programs.
