Pasadena : Rose Bowl Noise Rules

Share

The City Council split 4 to 2 Tuesday in tentatively approving a suspension of noise restrictions and an extension of the Rose Bowl curfew from 10 p.m. to midnight for the Aug. 22 Guns N’ Roses concert.

Council members William Thomson and Kathryn Nack voted against the measure, saying they didn’t want to vote on it until next Tuesday, after the city has a signed contract with the promoter, Avalon Attractions. Councilman Chris Holden abstained for the same reason.

City Atty. Victor Kaleta urged the council to act this week so the measure could come back for a final vote before tickets go on sale July 11. A Rose Bowl staff member also said the curfew extension and suspension of noise restrictions are prerequisites for the contract signing Monday.

The council approved the concert in April and hopes to receive at least $285,000 as its share of ticket sales. Avalon Attractions has agreed to pay $4,000 for every minute the music goes beyond 12:01 a.m.
