Donahue Given Three-Year Extension
Terry Donahue has signed a three-year contract extension to remain as UCLA football coach through the 1997 season, Athletic Director Pete Dalis confirmed Wednesday.
“I was pleased that Terry agreed to be the head football coach through the 1997 season,” Dalis said. “He brings a dimension to the athletic program (that goes) beyond the football program.”
Donahue, 48, signed the extension in May, but UCLA, following a practice it has used under Dalis, made no announcement.
The Daily News, which obtained Donahue’s contract as part of a California Public Records Act request, reported that Donahue is paid $108,000 per year in base salary and $201,000 per year for a “talent fee,” ostensibly compensation for time spent in media obligations.
UCLA is 125-54-8 in 16 seasons under Donahue.
