New York Yankee General Manager Gene Michael, Manager Buck Showalter and another club official Wednesday were admonished by Commissioner Fay Vincent because of testimony each gave Tuesday in the grievance hearing disputing the banishment of Yankee reliever Steve Howe. And according to an attorney retained by Michael, Vincent told the three he would impose disciplinary measures--fines and-or suspensions--Monday.

One person familiar with the situation told Newsday that the commissioner’s concern was based on the failure of the three to express support for baseball’s drug policy.

Cincinnati pitcher Tom Browning injured his left leg in a sixth-inning collision with Houston catcher Scott Servais and had to leave Wednesday’s game at the Astrodome. “It’s hard to say how serious it is,” Browning said. “I got hit right on the bone and it shocked me. We’ll just see what goes on tomorrow.” Servais was able to return for the seventh inning, but left in the eighth with a stiff left knee.
