After the Riots / NEWS IN BRIEF : COMPLAINTS : Views on Liquor Stores Sought
Beginning July 16, South Los Angeles residents will be able each Thursday to register their complaints about liquor stores with officials of the city Planning Department.
Complaints will be taken at Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas’ field office, 4376 S. Western Ave., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evidence presented by residents may be used to revoke city approvals for problem liquor stores, Ridley-Thomas said.
Community groups have raised objections to the number of liquor stores in parts of South Los Angeles. Store owners have stood fast against efforts to discourage them from rebuilding.
