Boy Still Critical After Nearly Hanging Self
A 14-year-old boy who almost hanged himself from a tree while playing with a friend was still in critical condition Thursday, hospital officials said.
Todd Abdulla of Irvine was moved to Children’s Hospital of Orange County after spending Wednesday night at the Irvine Medical Center.
He was playing Wednesday afternoon with another 14-year-old boy in Pinewood Park on Hudson in the Northwood section when the accident happened, police said. During a game, Abdulla stepped up on a bucket and placed a knotted rope around his neck.
For reasons that were not clear, the bucket slipped out from underneath Abdulla, as his friend looked on, police said. The friend then ran for help.
