Where Are They Now?

Where have all the great L.A. kiddie show hosts gone? Well, boys and girls, here are some answers:

Sheriff John (Rovick): Retired, living in Provo, Utah. Now has many candles on his birthday cake.

Skipper Frank (Herman): This kind, revered-by-peers gentleman lives in Carlsbad Caverns National Park in New Mexico. Still does shows for schools, despite near total deafness brought on by chemotherapy while fighting (and defeating) cancer in the mid-’70s.

Walker Edmiston: An avid toy collector and classic motorcycle restorer living in the San Fernando Valley. Still does a lot of voice-over work for TV and radio.

Vance Colvig: This much-loved man who succeeded his father, Pinto Colvig (the voice of Disney’s Goofy), as L.A.’s Bozo the Clown, died last year.

Captain Jett: Dallas McKinnon has grown a beard and is reportedly doing a “wagon train show” at fairs and schools in Oregon.

Engineer Bill (Stulla): The retired stockbroker lives in Westlake. Hopefully, he is still drinking his milk.

Tom Hatten: This master of the squiggle and Popeye host recently stopped hosting KTLA’s “Family Film Festival” and continues doing show business reporting for KNX Radio.

Jimmy Weldon: The impossibly energetic originator of Webster Webfoot is 69, recently took up flying again after 26 years and is a much-in-demand motivational lecturer for major corporations including Bendix, General Motors and TRW. The author of “Go Get ‘Em, Tiger--Becoming the Person You Want to Be,” lives in North Hollywood, and never goes anywhere without Webster Webfoot.
