Fired Up Over Backdraft

Share

I’m sure that Backdraft at Universal Studios will be a big hit to an audience unaware of the facts as stated in “Universal Tours Fires Up Its Backdraft” (June 24). This attraction is reported to burn enough natural gas in one day to support 200 typical homes for a year.

Are we supposed to be comfortable with the statement that “natural gas is a relatively clean-burning fuel”? This is hardly the point, since any high-school chemistry student knows that natural gas burns into carbon dioxide, which is responsible for greenhouse warming of our planet.

How can we as a nation maintain the moral high ground when we admonish the South Americans for destroying the rain forests? For heaven’s sake, let’s be more responsible!
