A 35-year-old Los Angeles man died on the Ventura Freeway in Woodland Hills when his car struck an embankment and landed upside down, the California Highway Patrol said Sunday.

The driver, whose name was not made public pending notification of relatives, was pronounced dead at the scene after the 4:20 p.m. crash Saturday on the eastbound lanes just west of Shoup Avenue, said Lt. Terry Enright.

“Apparently it was a solo car accident involving the driver and two male passengers,” Enright said. The two passengers were treated for minor injuries at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Woodland Hills and released, he said.

The car was traveling about 75 m.p.h. when the driver lost control, Enright said. The car swerved to the right, hit the embankment and overturned twice, landing on its roof, he said.
