CALABASAS : Annexation of Acreage on Agenda

Share

Annexation of nearly 1,000 acres of unincorporated land by the city of Calabasas is scheduled to be considered Wednesday by the Los Angeles County Local Agency Formation Commission.

More than 900 acres of the proposed annexation are covered by a development agreement between the city and Micor Ventures Inc. Environmentalists have brought a lawsuit seeking to block the development agreement, which would allow construction of 200 luxury homes east of Las Virgenes Road, three times the density allowed under current zoning for the property.

A 6-acre parcel also under consideration Wednesday is a sliver of land just north of the Ventura Freeway where 25 duplexes are to be built.

LAFCO Executive Officer Ruth Benell is recommending approval of both annexations because, she wrote in her report to the commission, “The City of Calabasas has the capacity to provide the required services” to the properties once they are developed.
