Associated Press
BATON ROUGE, La. —
Abortion-rights advocates and anti-abortion protesters faced off outside a clinic Tuesday as Operation Rescue began a weeklong demonstration.
Shouts and taunts were mixed with prayers and hymns. There was no violence.
The Delta Women’s Clinic, the only facility providing abortions in Baton Rouge, remained open but operators said they don’t perform abortions on Tuesdays.
Baton Rouge police spokesman Kevin Cavell estimated police overtime would cost $90,000 during the demonstrations.
