Two-time U.S. Open champion Tracy Austin won a $1.35-million settlement in a Morristown, N.J., lawsuit that charged a 1989 auto accident ended her tennis comeback. Austin suffered a broken leg and neck and back injuries when her car was struck by a van driven by Steven M. Reynolls on Aug. 3, 1989, in front of the Short Hills Hilton, court papers say.
