A House committee voted to exempt college football bowls from paying taxes on many contributions they receive from corporate sponsors.
The House Ways and Means Committee approved the measure on a voice vote.
The proposal, which moves on to a vote in the full House, would block recent rulings by the Internal Revenue Service requiring charitable organizations that extensively promote donors in return for contributions to pay taxes on the money.
