Al Howie, who last week dropped out of the overall competition, and Ed Kelley of Hollywood won the 21st stage of the Runner’s World Trans America Footrace, finishing the 55.75 miles from Fruita to Parachute, Colo., in 9 hours 33 minutes 1 second.

David Warady of Huntington Beach, who finished 10th in the stage, retained the overall lead after 922.95 miles. Warady has a cumulative time of 164:15:28, 3:17:35 ahead of Tom Rogozinski of Hagerstown, Md.
