This is the rock ‘n’ roll original music lineup for the week. TONIGHT

* Rock Steady Posse (Stingers, 2815 E. Main St., Ventura, 653-8086) Roots reggae comes to the place with the trippy light show and the lame DJs between sets. (Also Saturday at Garfields in Ventura.)

* Garage-a-saurus Wrecks, Bar Stool Pigeons (Charlie’s, 362 California St., Ventura, 648-6688) That old twang on some tight rockers. The bird band is a guitar frenzy outfit, starring Mr. Three-Bands-In-One, Mike Fishell (G-Wrecks, Convertibles, these guys).

* Arc Angels, Sass Jordan (Ventura Theatre, 26 Chestnut St., Ventura, 648-1888) By-the-numbers corporate rock--the first band features Charlie Sexton and all that hair, and the other is blond-bombshell, hard rock from Canada. See Night Life

* O.P. Stylee (Club Soda, 317 E. Main St., Ventura, 652-0100) No disco dollies tonight; rather, the Club Dred reggae show, mon.

* Tao Jonz (Beach Shack, 500 Anacapa St., Santa Barbara, 966-1634) Original and witty local band. (Also Friday at Alex’s Cantina.)

* Circus Frequency (Toes Tavern, 416 State St., Santa Barbara, 965-4655) Sprightly S. B. pop rock featuring the animated Kirstin Candy jumping around with enough energy to impress Deadheads. The band’s signing appears imminent as several labels are fighting it out for its services. The only thing you have to fight over is the free pizza.

* Zack & A Modern View (The Ketch, 514 State St., Santa Barbara, 564-3231) World beat and reggae provide the soundtrack for the dancers and that one lonely hour of free pizza.

* Fin, Greg & Dave (Alex’s Cantina, 633 State St., Santa Barbara, 966-0032) One of the few certainties of life: Pop rock on a Thursday night at the place on the corner. (Even Saturday, too, then Sunday at the Brewhouse Grill in S. B. and again on Tuesday at Alex’s Cantina in Goleta. Don’t these guys have cable?)

* Los Guys (State & A, 1201 State St., Santa Barbara, 966-1010) Hilarious and totally tight folk rock by a couple of UCSB dudes, Harold and Jeremy.

* Strange Brew (Art’s Bar, 2611 De La Vina St., Santa Barbara, 569-0052) Rock and blues; not a Cream cover band.

* King Sunny Ade (Anaconda Theater, 935 Embarcadero del Norte, Isla Vista, 685-3112) It’s juju music from Nigeria with an infectious beat that your feet will long remember.

FRIDAY

* Tim Buley Band (Champs, 1900 S. Victoria St., Oxnard, 984-8015) “All styles solo up to six piece”--that’s what his card says. (Also Saturday here and Sunday at the Blue Dolphin Tavern in S. B.)

* Lion I’s (Stingers) Did you see these reggae rockers at the Ventura Theatre with Raging Arb and Ariel on the Fourth of July? There won’t be 950 people at this gig, but it’ll be so crowded, you may think so.

* Raging Arb & the Redheads, Top Jimmy (Charlie’s) Local rhythm & boozers get to play behind their idol, Top Jimmy, then do their own stuff; all of the above rocks seriously.

* Leon Russell (Ventura Theatre) Seen his picture lately? Russell looks like God’s dad, and he’s been around almost as long. First in a series of geezer rockers coming to the venerable venue in the next month or so.

* Life Outta Control (Bermuda Triangle, 477 E. Main St., Ventura, 653-0466) Local rock night at the place that stands to gain much from the imminent demise of Charlie’s.

* Groove Psychosis, Jones N’ Five (The Insomniac Coffeehouse, 793 E. Santa Clara St., Ventura, 648-5019) Thrash rock. The last time the Jones boys played, they had enough rock ‘n’ roll stage smoke to delight the Marlboro Man.

* Big Sandy & the Fly-Rite Trio (Toes Tavern) Rockabilly rockers rage despite the paucity of free pizza.

* The Tearaways (Mesa Cafe, 1972 Cliff Drive, Santa Barbara, 966-5303) It’s Fin & Greg with more electricity doing the pop rock thing.

* Bone Daddys (Beach Shack) Wacko World Beat by a bunch of guys who dress funny but rock hard.

* The Signifiers (Art’s Bar) Ventura blues band takes a road trip.

* Henry Rollins Band (The Anaconda Theater) Founding member of Black Flag, spoken word artist, owner of enough tattoos to play the lead in a remake of “The Illustrated Man,” and screamer of angry songs.

SATURDAY

* Hansom Devils, Morbid Truth, Spring Voodoo, Trip Master Monkey (Skate Palace, 451 W. Hueneme Road, Oxnard, 488-6444) Local thrash show. Starts at 7:30 p.m. where blood wipes off easily from the floor.

* John Marx & the Blues Patrol (Hi Cees, 1583 Spinnaker Drive, Ventura, 658-8420) Rockin’ blues in the afternoon for the wandering tourists and the locals who know where they’re going. (Also Sunday.)

* Kris Kristofferson (Ventura Theatre) That Richter scale activity will be merely the heart palpitations of all those thirty- and fortysomethings swooning on their big night out.

* The Convertibles, Garage-a-saurus Wrecks (Charlie’s) Oldies, originals and lots of barroom favorites by this veteran local band, plus them again.

* The Pontiax (Mesa Cafe) They’ve just returned from doing a zillion blues festivals--it’s great to have fans.

* Surf Addicts (Toes Tavern) Probably no Garth Brooks or Guns N’ Roses covers tonight.

* Common Sense (Beach Shack) According to owner Gary Baldwin, these UCSB frat boys doing the white boy reggae thing are the club’s biggest draw.

* Allman Brothers, Blues Traveler (Santa Barbara County Bowl, 1122 Milpas St., Santa Barbara, 966-7566) Classic Southern rockers that make it worth it all just to hear Dickie Betts wail on “Jessica.”

* Tone Zone (Art’s Bar) Blues at the blues bar, why not?

SUNDAY

* Tree Of Love (Cheers, 1308 E. Los Angeles Ave., Simi Valley, 581-2488) They call this gig SUNDAYSKOOL--it’s local rock night plus pool and a DJ.

* Paul Hambrick (The Insomniac Coffeehouse) Folk music and industrial-strength coffee at the Mayfair Theater.

* Das & Dub Soldier (Bermuda Triangle) Local reggae legend gets it going on a Sunday evening.

* Roadhouse Rockers (Creek Side Inn, 4444 Hollister Ave., Santa Barbara, 964-5118) Just back from a lengthy national tour, they’re a raging rockabilly trio in the afternoon. Horseshoe pits, too.

* Cypress Hill, House of Pain (The Anaconda Theater) “Mellow” has no meaning tonight.

MONDAY

* Teresa James & the Rhythm Tramps (Alexander’s, Spinnaker Drive and Harbor Boulevard, Ventura, 658-2000) It’s another in the “Women in Blues” series this month. Swing dancing lessons at 7 p.m., music at 8.

* Two Good Reasons (Charlie’s) Stirring folk rock comes to the beach.

* Bluescasters (Alex’s Cantina) Guess what kind of music they play?

TUESDAY

* Irie Ites (Stingers) Silver Strand finheads do the rockin’ reggae thing. (Also Wednesday at the Elephant Bar in Ventura.)

WEDNESDAY

* Polychrome (Alex’s Cantina) It’s Duncan Wright’s band--they’ve got a new release plus a powerful female singer in Ginny Benson.

* Mars Hotel (Art’s Bar) Hard rock on Art’s night off.

* Wolfgang Press (The Anaconda Theater) Yet another alternative rock band to thrill the I.V. locals.
