West Hollywood : Gay-Lesbian Posts Open
West Hollywood officials are seeking applications from residents who wish to serve on the city’s Gay and Lesbian/Sheriff’s Conference Committee.
The 10-member committee, made up of residents and deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, has two resident vacancies, said Nancy Greenstein, the city’s public safety coordinator.
The 3-year-old panel has been credited with improving communication between the city’s large gay community and the Sheriff’s Department on such issues as anti-gay hate crimes, discrimination, and law enforcement recruiting and training. The Sheriff’s Department is under contract to provide law enforcement services for West Hollywood.
Greenstein said interested residents should send a letter describing backgrounds and reasons for applying to the city’s Public Safety Division, City Hall, 8611 Santa Monica Blvd., West Hollywood, 90069. For more information, call (310) 854-7470.
