PASADENA : Official Accepts Apology for Sexual Harassment

Share

A Pasadena housing official said Thursday that she accepted the public apology of City Councilman Isaac Richard, who cursed and threatened her two weeks ago. But she said that, for the moment, the harassment complaint she filed against him still stands.

“I haven’t talked to Richard personally,” said Housing Administrator Phyllis Mueller, “but he did make a public apology, and I accept that. I would, however, like a personal apology.”

She said the sexual harassment complaint she filed last week with the city will stand until Richard calls her. Richard admitted to threatening Mueller after a housing program he opposed was funded by his colleagues during the June 15 council meeting. “I’ll get you for this,” he told Mueller, who had recommended the measure. Then he cursed her with a sexual obscenity.

The council voted unanimously on Tuesday to “repudiate” Richard’s action, and he supported the measure. He had no comment Thursday.
