FULLERTON : Museum to Display Religious Folk Art

Share

Religious folk art images of the American Southwest will go on display at the Fullerton Museum Center today.

“Santos: Images of Penance, Images of Mercy,” will be on exhibit through Aug. 30 as part of the museum’s commemoration of the 1992 quincentenary anniversary of Christopher Columbus’ voyage to the Americas.

Santos are images of saints and other holy figures in the Catholic Church.

Those on display were created in New Mexico and Colorado by artists during the 19th Century for use in religious ceremonies.
