VENTURA : 67 Fair Volunteers to Receive Awards
Ventura County Fair officials will present a record 67 awards to loyal volunteers with 10 or more years of service at a reception today.
The program at the Ventura County Fairgrounds, which also will honor new volunteers, will be from 3 to 5 p.m. in the agriculture building.
Two 30-year awards, five 25-year awards, seven 20-year awards, 25 certificates for serving 15 years, and 28 certificates for serving 10 years will be given out.
In addition, two exhibit department heads will hand out Spotlight Awards to volunteers who exemplify the spirit of the fair.
To mark this year’s “Camelot” theme, members of the media will form teams to compete in games such as juggling, ring toss and a slingshot event. Food will be served on feasting boards, without modern utensils, and the department heads will crush grapes.
Anyone who wants to be a volunteer for the 12-day, 117th annual Ventura County Fair is encouraged to attend the reception.
The fair will run Aug. 19-30.
