RIOT RELIEF II: Though the promoters failed, there is apparently one concert in the works to raise money for L.A.’s renewal projects.

Fluid Marketing, an L.A.-based sports and entertainment marketing firm, and several L.A. radio stations are organizing “L.A. HomeAid,” a Coliseum concert that has drawn commitments from artists as big as Stevie Wonder and James Brown. Though tentatively set for Sept. 5, there is already talk it may have to be pushed back to November to allow sufficient time to organize the affair.

Rick Bratman of Fluid said that getting R&B; artists on board has been relatively easy, but that rockers have been hard to come by.

“We’d love to have Van Halen or the Chili Peppers, but we’ve been getting letters from managers saying our artists are not available,” he says. “We’re getting fuzzy feedback from some that they’d like to be involved, but they need to know more about the show and who else has committed to it.”

Using an impressive roster of industry insiders who are helping organize the concert, he hopes to contact artists directly in the next few weeks.
