Blacks, Latinos and Rebuild L.A.

Share

In the days since the insurrection in Los Angeles, I have read about one minority group after another complaining about being left out and discriminated against as the result of African-Americans seeking to help their own. I don’t understand it! The latest whine comes from the Latino community who say they are afraid of being left out of the Rebuild L.A. jackpot. Why do I see Latinos at work at every job site, during my travels around the city? I have yet to see an all African-American work crew. For that matter, I have yet to see any African-Americans working at job sites!

If the Latino community leaders were so very concerned with “working together,” why haven’t they stopped work at sites where no African-Americans were present? It seems that the leaders of the Latino community want to work together only when they fear their community is going to be left out, otherwise they couldn’t care less.
