West Hollywood : Recycling Program Grows

Share

The West Hollywood City Council this week approved a $400,000 expansion of its municipal recycling program to include curbside pickup for all apartment and condominium buildings.

The expansion means that buildings with five units or more--nearly 80% of the city’s housing--can take part in the city program. Since it began in 1990, curbside collection of recyclable material by the city had been limited to houses and apartment buildings with no more than four units.

The council agreed to hire West Hollywood Recycling Services for about $340,000. The proposal also called for hiring a new city staffer to oversee the expanded program at a cost of about $46,000 a year and to buy a truck for $13,000.
