Walk of Fame--A short news item on Thursday incorrectly described game-show host Dennis James, who has been nominated for a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as a talk-show host. The item also said that about 50 nominees have chosen not to have their stars installed. A spokeswoman for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said those nominees have not yet scheduled an installation ceremony.

Movies--Arkoff; actors Chevy Chase, Richard Farnsworth, Anna Lee, Pat Morita, Jason Robards and Meryl Streep; directors Arthur Cohn and Oliver Stone, and Bugs Bunny animator Friz Freleng.

Television--actors Roseanne Arnold, Ed Asner, Fred Dryer, Farrah Fawcett, Richard Mulligan and talk-show host Dennis James.

Recording--Vandross and fellow singers Neil Diamond, Gloria Estefan, Patti LaBelle and Bonnie Raitt, as well as musician Herbie Hancock.

Live theater--actors Martha Scott, Rip Taylor.

Radio--talk-show host Ray Briem, disc jockey Robert W. Morgan.

The announcement does not guarantee immediate immortality, however. The honorees, their fan clubs or their financial backers must also schedule a date and pay $5,000 for the honor, which covers the costs of installing the personal star on the black terrazzo sidewalks of Hollywood Boulevard or Vine Street.

In previous years, about 50 celebrities have chosen not to have their names displayed despite being selected for the Walk of Fame, said chamber spokeswoman Ana Martinez-Holler. They include Eddie Murphy, Cher, Madonna, Richard Pryor and Berry Gordy.
