Fox’s Condo Plans and Homeowners

Share

I’m writing in response to James Rainey’s article “3 Groups Sue to Halt Fox Condo Plans” (July 9). As a longtime resident of the Westside, I believe Fox Studio to be one of the greatest cultural and economic assets to our community.

I am extremely disappointed with the actions of the small, politically motivated opposition group, which has filed another frivolous lawsuit (the first one was thrown out of court) against the city of Los Angeles for granting the studio an extension to the existing condo tract map. This handful of naive individuals hardly represents their homeowners groups. As president of Friends of Fox, a volunteer organization of nearly 3,500 community members, I can assure you that hundreds of our members live in these two homeowner areas, and are extremely supportive of Fox’s studio plans.

It is clearly Fox’s desire to remain on the current site, where they’ve been a good neighbor for the past 63 years. We all know Fox doesn’t want to sell its land to condo developers, and won’t go forward with the condo alternative unless their proposed studio plans are denied. What a shame it would be to have them relocate out of our city. This action is just another example of those few who have no comprehension of today’s economic realities.
