NEWPORT BEACH : Donations Accepted in Doctor’s Memory
The family of Dr. James Watt, who died this week, have asked that donations in memory of the Newport Beach doctor be made to the Hoag Hospital Foundation.
Watt was the husband of Newport Beach councilwoman and environmental activist Jean H. Watt and one of the early members of the Hoag Hospital staff. He began his career at Hoag shortly after it opened its doors 40 years ago, and served as chief of staff from 1960 to 1961.
“He was very dedicated to Hoag and he had a fondness (for) his time here,” said Stacy Broussard, a spokeswoman for the hospital.
Watt worked nearly 40 years as a gynecologist there, and donations will be set aside for that department.
Gifts may be made to the Hoag Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box Y, Newport Beach, Calif. 92658-8912.
