VENTURA BOULEVARD : Appeals Process for Trip Fees Discussed

Share

The Los Angeles Planning Commission on Thursday discussed setting up an appeals process for a group of developers who have objected to paying large fees levied by the city to pay for traffic improvements along Ventura Boulevard.

The commissioners asked for more information and made plans to discuss the issue Sept. 3, but took no action.

The so-called trip fees range from $1,500 to $630,000 per developer, said Dick Platkin, a city planning associate.

Affected by the trip fees are 160 property owners who agreed to pay whatever trip fees were subsequently adopted by the City Council as part of the Specific Plan.

However, only 19 of the 160 owners have paid all or part of their fees.
