CASHING INN: Coastal hotels in Orange County are entering their busiest season, but one Newport Beach tradition is about to end. The Little Inn on the Bay, which bills itself as the city’s only hotel on the water, closes at the end of the summer. The 30-room inn, with some of the same summer guests for 20 years, will be razed for development. . . . “It’s been great fun, we’ve made wonderful friends,” says Herrick Hanson, who owns it with his wife Janice. “But the property is so valuable.” Hanson says he was made an offer too good to refuse.
