Overmatched NBC

Thumbs down to NBC, which, 10 minutes into its July 4 Wimbledon telecast, announced the winners of the men’s semifinal that was going to be shown later in the day. It totally ruined the suspense of the match.

Thumbs down to NBC, which did not show the completion of the women’s final because it had other “commitments.” A Wimbledon final is extremely important and showing the tape of the completion of the match the next day just doesn’t cut it.

Thumbs up to HBO, which preempted its regular schedule to show both of the men’s semifinals that were postponed on their last day of coverage due to rain. At least someone did something right.
