Newsday

Just who was that tall stranger signing autographs for a throng of people on Las Ramblas on Sunday night? Well, they may have thought it was basketball player Scottie Pippen, but it was actually U.S. heavyweight boxer Danell Nicholson, who bears a facial resemblance to the Chicago Bull forward and may have been compensating for the eight-inch or so difference in height by standing up on the pedals of his bicycle.

Whoever the crowd thought it was, the relatively unknown Nicholson, perhaps fearing his cover had been blown, glared briefly at a man who called out his name--and then continued signing.

This a daily roundup of Olympic-related items from reporters in Barcelona from the Los Angeles Times, Newsday, Baltimore Sun and Hartford Courant, all Times-Mirror newspapers.
