Michael, Day Three: Over in London, the dispute over how scarred Michael Jackson’s face may or may not be took a fresh twist Wednesday when the Daily Mirror countered the pop singer’s libel suit with one of its own. The newspaper’s suit concerns a news release issued by Jackson’s company earlier this week, denying reports in the Mirror that described Jackson as “disfigured” and announcing the first lawsuit. A lawyer for the paper said it was not a “tit-for-tat suit” but “a genuine libel action which we are very keen to pursue because it is defamatory to say you touched up a photo or you printed untrue allegations.”
