A bar security guard shot three men, one fatally, when they and a woman pinned him against a lamppost after forcing him out of a Florence area tavern, the Sheriff’s Department reported Friday.

The name of the 26-year-old dead man, and the names of the other two men, 23 and 38, all of Los Angeles, were withheld.

The men were shot at 10 p.m. Thursday outside the Mexico Alegre Bar, 1747 E. Gage Ave., said sheriff’s spokeswoman Angie McLaughlin. The confrontation occurred after the men and a 19-year-old woman began breaking beer bottles and creating a disturbance inside the bar. The security guard, David Huendo, 28, of Los Angeles, approached the foursome, McLaughlin said. But they forced him out the door and into the parking lot, sheriff’s spokesman Bill Martin said.

The guard was able to draw his handgun and he fired five times, shooting the 26-year-old in the chest and killing him, Martin said. The 23-year-old was shot in the hip and the 38-year-old was shot in the leg. They were reported in good condition at Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center.
