BLOWING HER COVER: Disregard what you’ve probably heard about the upcoming Sinead O’Connor album. It’s not a swing album and it’s not all ‘50s and ‘60s standards, as has been reported. The album--”Am I Not Your Girl,” which is due Sept. 15--features some of the singer’s favorite songs from many eras, including several old torch songs.

One reason she was eager to do the album was because it allowed her to work with an orchestra, something she’s wanted to do since recording the Cole Porter ballad “You Do Something to Me” for the 1989 “Red Hot + Blue” project. The producer is Phil Ramone, who contacted O’Connor when he heard about her plans to do an oldies album. O’Connor is in England at work on the video for the album’s first single, the Tammy Wynette oldie “Success Has Made a Failure of Our Home.”
