THOUSAND OAKS : Water District May Hike Annexation Fee

Share

The Calleguas Municipal Water District will consider a 30% increase in the fees it charges landowners to annex their properties into the district’s service area.

General Manager Donald Kendall said he has recommended increasing the annexation fee from $832 to $1,085 per acre. If adopted Wednesday by Calleguas’ five-member board, the proposed fee would be effective immediately.

The fee is charged to people who want their properties to be able to tap into pipelines that carry imported water into Ventura County.

Calleguas is the largest supplier of imported water in the county. It provides water to nearly 500,000 residents in the cities of Moorpark, Camarillo, Oxnard, Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks.

Officials formulated the fee by calculating the cost of replacing existing facilities.

Wednesday’s meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. at the agency’s offices, 2100 Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks.
