Miami wide receiver-kick returner Kevin Williams can avoid trial on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon by taking a gun-safety course and staying out of trouble for a year, a judge said in Miami.
Williams, 21, had been charged with carrying a concealed .38-caliber gun that had been reported stolen. Prosecutors dropped the charge of grand theft after Isaac Williams, the player’s father, said he had bought the gun on the street and given it to son his for protection without knowing its history.
