Police arrested a man suspected of bank robbery here and burglary in Colorado as he crouched between two vending machines in a hotel Wednesday morning.

About 11 a.m. a man walked into a Bank of America branch at 7855 La Palma Ave. and handed a teller a note saying he had a gun. The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and the man ran out, police said.

Officers cordoned off the area “and got to searching and snooping” immediately after the robbery, Lt. Dick Hafdahl said. Police located the suspect about one-quarter mile away, Hafdahl said, at the Embassy Suites hotel at 7762 Beach Blvd.

Officers did not find a gun on the suspect but recovered $1,400 from his pants, Hafdahl said.

Frank Alexander Lynch, 24, was arrested on suspicion of robbery. The unemployed construction worker, who told police he lives in Huntington Beach, is wanted in Colorado on felony burglary warrants, police said.

Lynch was being held in Buena Park City Jail without bail, Hafdahl said.

Today police will hand Lynch over to FBI investigators who will determine whether he will be transported to Colorado in connection with the warrants or stay to face the Buena Park charges first, Hafdahl said.
