Santa Monica : Art Exhibit to Lithuania
Santa Monica College is sending a photographic exhibit to Lithuania that organizers say would not have been permitted in the puritanical days before its independence from the former Soviet Union.
The show, which features the work of seven Santa Monica College students and professors, includes nudes and what photography professor Deirdre Garvey describes as “tongue-in-cheek images on sex.”
The exhibit, co-sponsored by the college and the Lithuanian Photographic Arts Society, will open Aug. 20 in the city of Siauliai and later travel to other towns in the Eastern European nation.
