A 15-year-old boy was shot and killed and another youth was critically wounded in an outburst of semiautomatic weapons fire outside a movie theater in the City of Commerce on Thursday night, authorities said.
Sheriff’s deputies said the shootings occurred about 7:30 p.m. outside a theater complex in the 900 block of South Goodrich Boulevard after a confrontation between two groups of teen-agers. The incident did not appear to be gang-related, they said.
The 15-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said. His 18-year-old friend was taken to County-USC Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition with a gunshot wound in the chest, they said. Investigators have not determined a motive for the shooting.
