WEEKEND TV : Olympics, Special Coverage on Violence

The conclusion of the XXV Summer Olympic Games at Barcelona and a special designed to assist domestic violence victims, highlight the weekend’s television viewing.

Today’s Olympic schedule, which includes basketball, boxing, track and field and water polo, begins at noon and continues at 7:30 p.m. and 12:35 a.m. on NBC (4)(36)(39). Sunday’s schedule, which features the men’s marathon, gold-medal highlights and closing ceremonies, starts at 8 a.m. and continues at 7 p.m. on NBC.

Domestic violence--which can be found on all economic levels--is the subject of a KSCI Channel 18 special, “About Love,” which is designed to assist victims in the Asian-Pacific communities.

Producer Patricia Kinaga, an L.A. deputy district attorney who has handled hundreds of domestic violence cases, was able to persuade frightened victims that a video production would help educate other women on how to end the vicious cycle.

The program airs tonight in English at 11, with multilingual presentations to follow next week.
