State Backs Hollywood in TV Rerun Fight: The state of California joined with two producers groups to oppose the Justice Department’s plans to relax regulations barring television networks from selling program reruns. The filings were made as part of an ongoing regulatory fight over the so-called financial interest and syndication rules. The state, in supporting Hollywood’s position, maintained that repeal of the rules would hurt the $3-billion TV production business and worsen California’s economy.
