Ron Karkovice singled to break a 14th-inning tie as the Chicago White Sox rapped out a season-high 20 hits Sunday and beat the California Angels 12-8.

Chicago won for the 10th time in 12 games despite a season-high five errors that led to six unearned runs. Lance Johnson extended his hitting streak to 23, the longest in the majors this season, and Frank Thomas extended his to 19 with a three-run homer.

The White Sox went ahead off Scott Bailes (3-1) on consecutive singles by Shawn Abner, Johnson and Karkovice. Estebon Beltre followed with a two-run single and scored when right fielder Chad Curtis dropped Tim Raines’ two-out fly ball for an error.

Don Pall (5-2), the sixth Chicago pitcher, allowed one hit in three innings.

California’s Rene Gonzales matched his career high with four hits. Ron Tingley of the Angels came out of the game after Alex Fernandez hit him in the right arm with a pitch in the fourth.

Thomas’ homer off Chuck Crim had given Chicago an 8-7 lead in the seventh, but Luis Sojo’s RBI groundout off Scott Radinsky tied the score in the eighth.
